Callaway Golf’s most recent engineering marching orders were to make a fairway wood that outperforms the best fairway wood ever created, which might seem impossible, but Callaway has done exactly that with the new X2 Hot Pro Deep Fairway Wood that is a technological marvel.
“We knew given the success of the X Hot fairway woods, designing this club was going to be a challenge,” said Evan Gibbs, Callaway Golf’s manager of performance analysis. “So we went back to the drawing board and tried to improve upon some of the core technologies that made those fairway woods so exceptional.” Improvements to the face of the X2 Hot Pro Deep fairway wood with its all new thinner and more robust 455 carpenter steel face cup produces faster ball speeds across the entire face for more consistent distances (up to nine additional yards compared to the X Hot fairway wood) and playability. What sets the X2 Hot Pro Deep fairway wood apart the standard X2 Hot fairway wood that it is aptly designed as an alternative to a driver – and for golfers who prefer a deeper face and who really like to hit fairway woods off the tee.
While the face design of the X2 Hot Pro Deep fairway wood may be new, Callaway kept an internal weighting system used in the club’s predecessor called Internal Standing Wave that is a series of wave-like pieces of metal positioned directly behind the hitting area – that pushes more weight forward. While the X Hot fairway woods had 49.5 grams of weight in their internal wave, the X2 Hot Deep has 63 grams. “What this does is reduce the backspin and help to flatten the trajectory,” Gibbs said. “It also provides more consistent launch and spin conditions across the face. It does this without compromising the face and sole flexure needed to generate the high ball speeds.”
The X2 Hot Pro Deep fairway wood also has a versatile sole design with heel and toe relief, along with extra face camber – giving the X2 Hot Deep fairway wood extreme versatility out of a variety of playing conditions and lies.
Sported with the Aldila Tour Green shaft (rated #1 shaft on the PGA Tour in 2013), the all new X2 Hot Pro Deep fairway wood is set to give your game a new level of consistent distances and outstanding Callaway performance.
